These little dogs are very hardy and relatively healthy. As they get older they have a tendency to gain weight and should be provided with regular exercise and get a balanced diet. Due to the small size the dogs are vulnerable and may break bones. Specific disorder for this breed is hypoglycemia and you should be careful with the trachea and use a body harness instead of a collar.
