Chihuahuas Rescues Breeders - What is a reliable breeder?
Before buying a puppy, it is necessary to find and define a breeder, whose goal in life is producing pure and sound Chihuahuas. To begin with, I would like to warn you against swallowing banal newspaper baits. A true breeder simply will not go for this sort of newspaper ad fishing because he or she does not have to do it.

They gain fame by other means, and these means are long established connections and records in the minds of inveterate dog keepers, who had to deal with this particular breeder more than once. These breeders are in permanent contact with the AKC or other well-known breed clubs.
True breeders must truly love the breed. When visiting a breeder, pay attention to how many dogs or breeds there are in the house and see if they safely surrounded. Also, consider their behavior. Are they lively or gloomy? How well do they correspond with the image of a Chihuahua that you believe is true? Is there only one breed or there are various breeds of dogs in the house? If there are too many animals in the house, it is likely, that you are dealing with a 'puppy mill', and it is high time to say 'good-by'.
A good breeder should be knowledgeable and open about the breed itself, its history, health and anatomy. He or she must willingly show you all dogs that bear a pedigree relation to the puppy you are going to buy. He or she should not shy away from telling you about the pup's shortcomings. Make sure that the breeder has a spay/neuter contract and he or she does not hold forth too much about 'rare colors', 'teacups' etc. Chihuahuas come in all colors possible!

Chihuahuas do not tolerate severe weather conditions and are only good for home life. They need gentle and careful care because they have delicate bodies and are extremely prone to injuries. They are relatively loyal to dogs of the same breed. Longhaired Chihuahuas require regular
grooming. Do not bathe Chihuahuas too frequently, because you may wash away
natural skin oils and trigger skin problems.
