These dogs are famous for their saucy look and undaunted temperament. They are not very friendly and can be very dog-aggressive. However, they love their owners the point of jealousy and are very protective around them. They enjoy company and interaction and should not be abandoned for a long time. They make excellent companions for elderly people and can be superb therapy dogs for the disabled. They are very fragile and require careful handling. This breed is not intended for hard work and is purely a domestic breed.

But some people want to make them even smaller and use some unethical methods to produce the so-called miniature or pocket-size variety of the breed and make money. The fact is that very small puppies are born prematurely and are not fully developed. They are very weak and can have some hidden health problems, which develop later.
