The dogs of this breed are very small (1-7 pounds) with a characteristic saucy expression on the tiny muzzle and an apple-domed skull. Their body length is slightly longer than the height. These dogs come in two coat varieties: long and smooth. Every color is permissible in this breed, but solid colors are more desirable. The eyes of these dogs are large and set well apart, the ears are large and carried erect. The tail should be long, carried up or out, or curled, but never tucked between the legs.
