Chihuahuas are the smallest dogs in the world. Fanciers breed Chihuahuas for apartment life and do not intend them for service or jobs that involve hard work or agility. Chihuahuas are pure toy dogs and people keep them as pets and home

The belief is that the dog originated in Chihuahua, a state of Mexico. However,
there is still little certainty as to where the dog originated.Some think, that the dog arrived in Mexico with Asian and Chinese immigrants. Others believe that the breed is native to South America, and this viewpoint does have some proof. Fragments of dogs' skeletons found in ancient graves indicate that natives probably worshipped them.
Chihuahuas may have come to the New World by Spanish Conquistadors. There are two types of Chihuahuas: the short coated and the long coated. The long coated appeared after crossbreeding of Chihuahuas with other toy dogs, such as Pomeranian, Pekingese and
Papillon's. The American Kennel Club officially recognized the breed in 1904.
Chihuahuas Rescues Breeders - General Appearance and Temperament
Chihuahuas are miniature toy dogs. They have distinctive apple-shaped heads and large erect ears. They can be short- or long coated. They are self-assured, graceful, saucy, boisterous and protective. Chihuahuas are remarkably faithful and loyal; they can express jealousy and anxiety if there are other animals in the house. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas can be aggressive towards strangers and are not very good with small children.
